“I do not like falling” Says the Tree

Matine Yuksel

Matine: Hello tree. How are you feeling?

Tree: I am doing not so good.

Matine: Why are you not feeling good?

    Tree: Because I have fallen.

Matine: How did that happen?

Tree: The wind blew me down because my branches wouldn't move when it blew.

Matine: Well, the wind is not that strong to blow you down; you are so big.

Tree: Well, actually you humans watered me only where my trunk is. So my roots did not go out far          and because of that I fall easily.

Matine: Do you like falling down?

    Tree: No, are you crazy.

Matine: What do you think about when the kids come out for lunch?

Tree: Well they are really loud so I can't take my evening nap.

Matine: Do they climb you at all?

    Tree: No not really.

Matine: Do they treat you well?

Tree: Most of the time, yes.

Matine: When did you fall?

    Tree: I fell on October 12, 2005.

Matine: Do you like when the sun comes out?

Tree: Of course, that’s where I get my energy.

Matine: What is your favorite time of the year?

Tree: My favorite time of the year is when it is a solstice for day time.

Matine: Why?

Tree: Because the sun is out longer so I get a lot of energy from the sun.

Matine: What is this process called scientifically?

    Tree: It is called photosynthesis.

Matine: Thank you for your interview.

Tree: I thank you for listening to me.
